Being from Toronto allows for some great and easy weekend getaways. Granted one on this list requires a plane ride, Torontonians don't really count the 45 mins to New York City as a flight. We are natural cottagers, and a certain set of people have called Muskoka their summer home for a long time. That is more of a literal description as these properties are more mansion than cottage, and not a far departure from their everyday. Third on the list is the newbie with the buzz. Prince Edward County is gorgeous and unique, with an independent style (hipster) stamp of approval.
The ultimate city trip; NYC
There is no shortage of things to do in the big apple. People watching, bar hopping, boutique shopping and a good dose of sight seeing in between makes for a great getaway. A trip to the ultimate of stylish cities needs a cool yet versatile wardrobe. One that is comfortable and makes you feel like you are living like a local. Slip dresses and sneakers let you battle the heat while staying on trend, and allowing you to walk and talk for miles. A clean lined bag or backpack is a versatile piece for both day and night. Plus pack your jeans, mules, and gold earrings for the evenings out.
High-end weekend; Muskoka
Muskoka’s million dollar waterfront properties naturally call for you to up the ante outfit wise. A weekend in Toronto’s “Hampton's” BBQ-ing, boating, and frosé sipping would call for sartorial choices to match. Designer names like Ulla Johnson, Zimmerman, and Missoni might be mentioned dockside with understated Hermès leather slides acting as the footwear of choice. Though a few red soles are probably never far. Muskoka is luxury cottaging at its finest, though it has the natural Canadian vibe, luxury is still a describing factor.
Hip and relaxed; Prince Edward County
Just two hours from downtown Toronto, Prince Edward County has gone from relatively unknown hip and happening weekend away, to a must visit. With sandy beaches, wineries, antiquing and Instagram worthy accommodation you can pack relaxed. Vintage denim, scalloped bikini, and straw hat should all make it into the van- preferably a 1970’s VW. With farm to table restaurants and music nights peppered around, a pair of Birkenstocks or boots with a floral dress wouldn't go amiss.
